Phaneuf: We had them in a hole they shouldn’t have been able to get out of. Definitely the worse loss of my pro career. It shouldn’t have happened. It’s extremely tough to put into words. We had a team down and out, and we just let them take over the game.

Reimer on realizing Bergeron had won it in OT: It’s just an empty feeling.

Franson: We gave it away. We gave it to them. We gave ourselves a very good chance to win this series and we gave it away.

Kessel: I don’t know what happened to us. 4-1, You can’t lose that game. How can you look at the positive after a game like that. It’s pretty tough.

Carlyle: I thought we ran out of gas… the most disappointing part for me is we lost two games in our building.

Kadri: You’ve got to give us a little bit of credit. I think the predictions were we would’ve finished 14th or 15th .. and look what we did. It was a heartbreaker watching that overtime goal go in. I don’t think many of us are going to sleep tonight. It’s an experience you can’t buy. We’re going to take what we can and go back to work next year.

Gardiner: I’m not sure. I’ve never been in this situation before. (It will probably sting) for a while. We’re going to come back next year and be an even better team.

“I guess one of the quirky things I do is I turtle, I guess you could call it. I stick my head in my shoulder pads five, ten minutes before we go out and for me it just kinda feels like, you know, it kinda shuts everything out, whether it’s music playing or guys are talking. I just go in there and it’s a little quieter and I can focus.”
